FAQ
Pain tolerance varies from person to person, but many clients describe the sensation as a “prickling feeling” or “like being scratched by a cat.” The level of discomfort can also depend on several factors:
■ Placement Areas with more fat and muscle, such as the upper arms, thighs, or buttocks, tend to be less painful. Bony or thin-skinned areas—like the ribs, wrists, ankles, fingers, neck, and spine—can be more sensitive.
■ Design Details Fine line or dotwork designs are generally gentler. Solid black fills, color shading, or long sessions may feel more intense and tiring.
■ Physical & Mental Condition Lack of sleep, an empty stomach, or a hangover can make the pain feel worse. Being well-rested, nourished, and relaxed helps ease discomfort.
■ For First-Timers If it’s your first tattoo, don’t worry—we’ll go at a pace you’re comfortable with. Breaks are always welcome, and we’ll check in with you throughout the session.
Things to Keep in Mind on the Day of Your Tattoo Appointment
To ensure a smooth session and prevent any issues, please review the following before your visit:
1. Bring a valid photo ID First-time visitors are required to present a valid government-issued ID (such as a driver’s license, passport, or MyNumber card) for age verification. Please note: Copies or photos are not accepted. We do not offer tattoos to anyone under the age of 18.
2. Be in good physical condition Make sure to get plenty of rest and eat a proper meal before your appointment. Coming in on an empty stomach or with little sleep may increase sensitivity to pain and affect your overall condition. Please avoid alcohol and blood-thinning medications on the day of your session.
3. Dress appropriately Wear clothing that allows easy access to the tattoo area. For example, short sleeves for arm tattoos or shorts for leg tattoos. We recommend wearing something you don’t mind getting a bit of ink on, just in case.
4. Shower beforehand For hygiene and aftercare reasons, we recommend taking a shower the day of (or the day before) your appointment. After the tattoo, you'll need to avoid long baths, saunas, pools, and other water activities for a period of time.
5. Guests We generally ask that you come alone, but if needed, you may bring one guest with prior notice. Please contact us in advance.
6. Late arrivals & cancellations If you’re running more than 10 minutes late, please contact us as soon as possible. Same-day or no-show cancellations may result in being unable to book future appointments.
